Chai Old Fashioned
A fall riff on a classic old fashioned recipe.
- 2 ounces Bourbon
- 1/4 ounces Chai Syrup
- 2 dashes Chocolate Bitters
Mix the Cocktail: Combine the bourbon, chai syrup and chocolate bitters into a mixing glass and fill with ice. Using a bar spoon, stir the cocktail for 10-15 seconds to chill.
Strain the Cocktail: Using a julep or hawthorne strainer, pour the cocktail into a rocks glass over ice.
Garnish the Cocktail: Express the back of an orange peel over the cocktail and drop it into the old fashioned.
How to Make Chai Syrup: Heat one cup of water in a medium sauce pan on the stove. Bring to a simmer. Remove from heat, and steep one chai tea bag for 4 minutes. After you've steeped the tea, remove the bag and pour in 1 cup of sugar and stir to dissolve. Store in a glass container in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks.
If you want to batch this cocktail for a large group, multiply the recipe specifications by the amount of cocktails you're looking to serve.
